FREE E-Book: High Impact Activities to Propel Your Career Path to Super Success!

September 15, 2009 By: kellyharrington Category: career goals, career path, e-book

As an HR professional, I had numerous conversations with employees, managers, and executives about their frustration with their career path. Most felt that the path wasn’t clearly defined and/or that their manager wasn’t helping them at all.  We would discuss it, I would give them some coaching and, most importantly, I would remind them that ultimately it was really up to them to manage their own career path.

Now, I’m sure at this point in the conversation, most folks wanted to slap me. They had heard that same old, same old before and they felt like they had done all they could.  Usually they really hadn’t done all they could but they had good intentions.

I figure the 80/20 rule applies to most things in life, as it does with career paths.  80% of the effort must be made by the employee with 20% of the support system given by the company, manager, HR, etc.  So, if at least 80% of the success equation is up to you, I thought I would write an ebook to give you a few pointers to ensure you’re firing in all of the right places to better manage your career and to ensure success in what it is you want to achieve.
